Monk’s Hill Ventures (‘MHV’), a venture capital firm investing in early-stage tech startups in Southeast Asia, today announced the appointment of Susli Lie to Partner, expanding the senior leadership team.

Singapore and Jakarta, 14 February 2022: As a firm focused on building a strong partnership of entrepreneurs and operators, she will be responsible for building MHV’s Indonesia presence, spearheading the firm’s ESG program, and supporting portfolio companies on the ground.

Susli has been instrumental in bringing her previous experience as a founder to build-out our Indonesia presence and team since she joined. She personifies our operational DNA and has a proven track record in working with founders to effectively scale their companies in the region,” said Peng T. Ong, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Monk’s Hill Ventures.

Susli first joined MHV as a Venture Partner. Prior to MHV, Susli co-founded ErudiFi, a tech-enabled education financing company in Southeast Asia, which names MHV as one of its early investors. In this role, she became the first female founder from Indonesia to be backed by Y Combinator. As a female founder—and now Partner at MHV—, Susli is passionate about supporting and empowering female entrepreneurs across Southeast Asia.

Susli is also a seasoned finance professional, having built a career with global experience at the cross-section of finance, international development, and technology. Born and raised in Jakarta, she has spent the last decade in Indonesia advising, investing, and operating as a founder. Among other roles, she was previously Asia-Pacific Chief of Staff for Oliver Wyman. She holds a BA in Economics and Chinese from Yale University, an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a MA in International Development from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

“As a first generation college graduate, Susli is an inspiration for Indonesian youths and shows us what's possible with equal opportunity. It's been a privilege working alongside Susli to bring ErudiFi to life and make education accessible for Southeast Asian youths. I look forward to seeing her impact magnified at MHV through current and future generations of founders in Southeast Asia,” said Naga Tan, co-founder and CEO of ErudiFi.

In addition, MHV is also excited to announce the recent internal promotions of Eunice Wong to Principal in Singapore and Natasha Gunawan to Senior Investment Analyst based in Indonesia.
